Step into an exploration
of how advanced
civilizations are created.
In a universe filled with trillions of planets, why is there no evidence of other technological civilizations? Where Are the Little Green Men? addresses the Fermi Paradox through a new, science-based framework known as the Adair Hypothesis. Rather than treating intelligence or self-destruction as the primary limiting factors, the book argues that advanced civilization depends on the extraordinarily rare availability of dense, storable, and transportable energy. Tracing a fragile chain from planetary formation and early biology to fossil fuels, fission, and the promise of fusion, the book shows how humanity escaped biological limits to build modern civilization. The Great Silence, in this view, is not a cosmic graveyard, but a reflection of how uncommon the necessary preconditions truly are. Blending cosmology, astrobiology, evolutionary biology, and energy physics, the book reframes humanity’s place in the universe-not as ordinary or inevitable, but as profoundly rare and consequential.

Where are the Little Green Men?:
The Adair Hypothesis
In a universe containing hundreds of billions of galaxies and trillions of planets, the question has echoed through science for decades: Where is everybody? If intelligent life is possible, why have we never seen evidence of other technological civilizations?
This mystery, famously known as Fermi’s Paradox, lies at the heart of Where Are the Little Green Men?: The Adair Hypothesis. In this provocative and thought-provoking work, Terry Adair presents a bold new framework for understanding humanity’s apparent solitude in the cosmos.
Adair proposes a powerful idea: life may be common, but technological civilization is extraordinarily rare.
